Dancing man is finally found
Last month 4chan posted a photo that sparked a social media campaign to track down the man in the photo. A user posted a photo on thesite of a man dancing with a caption “Spotted this specimen trying to dance the other week. He stopped when he saw us laughing.”
The image was then posted on Imgur and this sparked criticism. 4chan was accused of cyberbullying. Cassandra Banks who is an activist and writer who is based in Los Angeles started a campaign to find the man in the photo. She tweeted “Anyone know this man or who posted this? There's a huge group of ladies in LA who would like to do something special”
The # #FindDancingMan campaign spread like wild fire and within 24 hours he had n=been fund. The man is identified as Sean. With his newly established twitter account, Sean wrote "Big thanks to all who have tweeted such kind words. Not stopped smiling and laughing,"
"Massive thanks to all and what a party in waiting!!! Completely overwhelmed," he added.
A GoFundMe page was called "Dance party for #dancingman" to raise funds to fly Sean to the party. Their target was $20,000 dollars and over $34,000 dollars had been raised by Monday. A recent update shows that a “#dancingman meeting” held on Sunday night was a success. “We started this so that we could dance with one man, who had been shamed from dancing in public,” the post reads. “Many of us know what it is like to not be comfortable in our own skin- and the photograph resonated with all of us.”
Pharrell Williams, Ellie Goulding have expressed their interest to be at the party. Moby also offered his DJ services for free at the party.
